APPOINTMENTS / BOOKING

WHY DO I NEED A CONSULTATION?

We conduct consultations to help ensure that the correct services are being provided for your desired look and your hair type, we use the photos you are asked to provide to ensure we have the correct hair colour and texture available for you inside the salon.

HOW DO I BOOK AN APPOINTMENT?

We have 3 ways for you to book an appointment within the salon:

1. Call the salon to get booked in. This option is for rebooking customers.

2. Download our booking app register and self-book.

3. Visit our website booking page here to self-book.

WILL I GET A CONFIRMATION OF MY BOOKING?

Yes, you will get a confirmation text and email at the point of booking and another 48hrs before your booking.

HOW LONG WILL MY APPOINTMENT TAKE?

All appointment times vary based on services you are having and your own hair volume, i.e a texture release could be 2hrs for most, however it could be up to 3hrs for someone with very long thick hair, this is the same for extensions. A half head takes less time than a full head.

When booking your services your confirmation email will give you the start and finish time for your full booking

Half head Vs Full head

Half head extensions are normally to only add volume and keep extensions at your natural hair length, if you require extensions longer than your own hair you might want to have a full head for a more natural blend.

ALVON TEXTURE RELEASE / SILK PRESS

WHAT IS A SILK PRESS AND HOW LONG DOES IT LAST.

A silk press is a deep conditioning treatment that helps to loosen and moisturize your hair followed by a blow-dry and straightening.

How long it lasts varies based on your hair and lifestyle if you tend to sweat a lot in your head and are very active your hair could revert back faster.

If your hair is damaged it may not last as long until your hair is healthier.

CAN A SILK PRESS DAMAGE MY HAIR?

If your hair is already breaking and unhealthy, the heat from the straightening could make it worse even without heat.

WHAT IS A TEXTURE RELEASE AND HOW LONG DOES IT LAST?

It is a semi-permanent straightening system that helps to smooth your natural hair while still maintaining its natural curl when wet. It uses amino acid and conditioning agents to loosen your curl pattern to 2-4 months this is not a keratin formulated product.

According to Avlon the lasting time for a texture release is 2-4 months, however, we find that the time varies based mainly on lifestyle and home care.

IS A TEXTURE RELEASE SAFE FOR MY HAIR?

If you have any hair or scalp conditions it is not advised to have a texture release treatment as the amino acid in step two can make some conditions worse, such as Psoriasis or eczema.

CAN I HAVE A TEXTURE RELEASE ON TOP OF A RELAXER?

We advise that you wait 4-6 months before having a texture release or focus the texture release only on the root area of your hair not over the relaxed hair although Avlon do state that it is safe to do so we find it can leave your relaxed hair dry.

HAIR EXTENSIONS

WHAT HAIR EXTENSION METHODS DO WE OFFER?

Please check out our service page that lists all the single stand and wefted extension methods we offer.

CAN I HAVE EXTENSIONS IF MY HAIR IS NOT RELAXED?

We advise having a silk press, texture release or keratin treatment to smooth your hair while wearing extensions. This is to avoid your hair reverting back to curly while wearing the extensions.

CAN I USE HEAT ON HAIR EXTENSIONS?

Yes, the hair extensions are human hair they can be coloured as well as use heat on them. We advise you to treat hair extensions as you would your own hair.

WHAT SHAMPOO PRODUCTS SHOULD I AVOID/NOT USE ON MY HAIR EXTENSIONS?

We advise that you avoid all products with high in sodium and sulphates as the salt levels can leave your own hair and hair extensions very dry and will break your extensions over time.

CAN I OIL MY EXTENSIONS?

Yes, but only a small amount just to keep your hair moisturized. In addition use hydrating shampoo and conditioners to keep moisture in your hair from the point of washing.

HOW MANY GRAMS OF HAIR ARE IN YOUR HAIR EXTENSIONS?

All our hair bundles i-tip, tape or weft come in 100gram or stands per bundle.

WHAT HAIR EXTENSIONS ARE BEST FOR THIN HAIR?

The most common method of extensions for ladies with thin/fine hair are ultra tips however these only come in straight hair.

Mylynx flat wefts and invisible flat wefts can be installed in various hair textures.

I WAS TOLD MY HAIR IS NOT SUITABLE FOR HAIR EXTENSIONS?

There are a few reasons why you might have been told this. The most common reason at House Of Hair UK is the length of your hair.  If your hair is curly and you want curly extensions it must be 8” in length or longer to get a natural blend, if your hair is straight it must be 5” to ensure a natural blend.

WHAT HAIR EXTENSIONS ARE BEST FOR AFRO HAIR?

After having your silk press, relaxer or texture release it is most likely that only kinky straight and yaki textured hair will blend with your natural hair.

CAN I PROVIDE MY OWN HAIR BUNDLES?

Yes, you can, HOWEVER… you must provide hair that matches your own natural hair colour and texture. You may be refused services if this is not the case as we want to ensure you have safe, but also natural-looking extensions.

AFTERCARE

WILL I RECEIEVE AFERCARE INSTRCUTIONS?

All customers are provided with a HairCare guide after their appointment this will be sent in a digital form.

HOW OFTEN CAN I WASH MY HAIR?

You should be washing your hair once a week for European hair and every other week for Afro hair.

You can wash your hair more than recommended above, however, constant washing leaves your hair and hair extensions dry and they could rub on each other and create friction leading to thinning of your natural hair. Also, constant blow drying can pull on your hair and can make extensions become very lose.

WHY CAN I NOT AIRDRY MY HAIR?

If you leave your hair to air dry it could tangle and create matting around the weft or tips of the extensions. In some extreme cases, this has led to having to cut your hair and extensions in order to remove knotting.

HOW DO I BRUSH MY HAIR EXTENSIONS?

  • Use a firm bristle brush that does not have balls on the ends, and section your hair into 4-6 sections.
  • Start brushing from the ends of your hair holding the root area to avoid pulling on your root
  • Brush up to the middle section then the root of your hair, be sure to brush over the top of your extensions at the root this helps to detangle your hair and the extensions at the root.
